Current Challenges for Entry Level Attorneys

When it comes to the excelling in the workforce, most people have to start at the bottom of their careers and work their way up. An entry level attorney is one of those positions at the bottom rung of the ladder. It may seem like it is going to take the rest of your life to move up the scale to a mid-level or senior-level position, and it might. The current challenges that entry level attorneys face today are anything but minor. However, by identifying them it"s possible to work towards a solution and overcome them.
1.      Competition:
There"s no denying that the competition for mid level and senior level positions is stiff. In fact, the entire job market for entry level attorney"s in incredibly hard to get into. This is all the more reason to show them you are above the rest. It may take a while but, if you remain focused and motivated day in and day out, your time will come.
2.      Long Hours, No Pay Off:
Another constant problem many entry level attorneys face is that they are putting in extremely long hours and hard days without any sort of reward. Becoming an attorney is one of the hardest career choices out there and you are most likely working 50 plus hours, including some nights and weekends. This is not going to end. However, to remain motivated, consider setting up your own reward system. This could include a mini vacation, a lavish purchase or a delicious treat after a long week of work.
3.      Physical and Mental Exhaustion:
Entry level attorneys have a lot of responsibilities. You will need to have a firm grasp on law and government but also have excellent English language skills including reading, writing, typing and summarizing. You will need to remain focused throughout the day and take orders from those above you. This can cause a lot of drain and strain. This is why you need to take care of your body and mind when at home. Indulge in a monthly massage, incorporate a vitamin plan into your diet, and invest in some soothing aromatherapy candles for the home. You need to find a balance between hard work and relaxation in order to stay alert.
